Set up your local email client

** These instructions are based on MS Outlook and will vary from one version of Outlook to another, so take these instructions as the basics and go from there. **

1. Open Outlook/Outlook Express
2. In the drop down menu, select the Tools.
3. From the list that appears select E-mail Accounts
A new window will appear,
4. Under the e-mail section, select add a new e-mail account, then select next.
5. Your Server Type is a POP3, Select this and select next.
A new window will appear,
6. Enter:
    Your Name: John
    Your Email Address: john@yourdomain.net
    Incoming Mail Server (POP3): mail.yourdomain.net
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.net *
    Your Username: john@yourdomain.net (the full email address)
    Your Password: Enter the password you used to create this mailbox

7. Press the More Settings button and click the Outgoing Server Tab

check the "My server requires Authentication" box

Click the "Use same settings as my incoming Email server" radio button

Click OK

8. Press the Test Account Settings button
9. After everything checks out, select finish button to complete the setup.

*Your ISP may require that you use their SMTP server settings.  Please contact them for consultation.  This may also keep you from having email troubles in the future.
